What is the best time of the day for a photo session? And which month would be the best for your outdoor photo shoot? I am being asked those questions pretty often and I thought it would be useful to share a few words about it.
For outdoor sessions the answer is pretty easy : the golden hour! I always suggest meeting you around sunrise or 1,5 hour before sunset. During golden hour the light is softer and we can add this extra magic to your photographs. Strong and harsh light creates unflattering shadows on your face; not even mentioning squinting eyes on your pictures that we really want to avoid.The time of golden hour changes throughout the year. If you plan your photo session ahead you can adjust the timing to your family routine. In UAE those are the timings we will be meeting if you book your session in following months:
January 5:00-6:00PM
March 5:30-6:30PM
May 6:00-7:00PM
September 5:30-6:30PM
November 4:30- 5:30PM
When it comes to the best months for the outdoor session I would suggest meeting during the winter season. I do believe November and December are the best months when the temperatures are lower and still not much rain is expected. If you are lucky you can count on having beautiful clouds in the background. Recently I’ve noticed that the weather in UAE is slightly changing and we can expect more and more rainy or windy days in January, February and March. April and May are still good months but you definitely start to feel it's getting hotter and the chances of having clear blue sky are lower. June is only for brave people as the humidity makes it quite challenging to shoot and I always suggest meeting early in the morning at sunrise in the summer season.
Below I wanted to share some highlights from a desert session that took place in November. I could not have asked for better weather on that day, a beautiful sky with a few clouds and lots of sun. It is still one of my favorite shoots in the desert - a session with 3 boys in the desert means lots of fun and running :)
