Choosing an outfit for your photo session might be a daunting task especially when you are pregnant, not always feeling like a diva and you can find only a winter collection in your favorite shop . Below you will find a few tips to consider that will help you prepare the most flattering look for your maternity photo shoot.
Long dresses are your friend
First of all they look beautiful on photographs and add some movement in the frame making it more interesting. At the same time they perfectly cover what we do not want to show like swollen ankles or some spider veins.
Avoid bold patterns
Simply because bold patterns distract the composition and take away attention from you and your bump. I always advise to wear plain colors or very very small pattern for one outfit only to bring all the attention to You not your wardrobe.
Natural colors
Most of my clients choose me as their photographer for the light and warm editing style. That is why I always suggest neutral and light colors that will go perfectly with it and with natural backgrounds where I usually have my sessions. This type of colors will help to keep your photographs bright and light.
Don’t be too matchy matchy
It is a bit out of style for everyone to be wearing jeans and white polos. Your photographs will look more interesting if you add some diversity and patterns when deciding your outfit. I always suggest thinking about colors that compliment each other. If you have any trouble in deciding I am always happy to help in choosing what looks best on your photos.
Last few tips
Please try to keep your lingerie in natural colors as well so that it doesn’t show when taking pictures against the light. If you have a light color dress please do not wear a black lingerie (unless you are planning to show off your bump and pose only in lingerie and shirt).
If you wear a dress that shows your arms please remove straps of your bras long before the session so it doesn’t leave marks on your skin. The same rule applies to wearing socks - please remove them long before we meet if we shoot in the desert or at the beach.
I know that styling your photoshoot might be stressful that is why I decided to invest in a client closet. Each dress was selected carefully to make sure you look gorgeous in your photographs and make your life a bit easier.
