How to prepare for your desert photo session in Abu Dhabi | Abu Dhabi Couples Photographer

What to consider when planning your photo shoot in sandy dunes? Below you will find few points that will help you prepare for your photo session in Abu Dhabi desert.

Weather

The best time to schedule your photo session is from October till April where the weather is still not too hot around sunset time. During these months you can still enjoy your photo shoot as temperatures are between 20-30 degrees. In the summer running dunes becomes challenging as you will sweat a lot and most probably the sand will burn your feet. That is why I always recommend postponing your session for cooler months.

Even more important factor is wind! And oh boy it can be sometimes unpredictable here in UAE. Wind usually adds nice movement in the frame, making your hair and dress look interesting (especially if there are beautiful ray of lights coming through). I always monitor it closely and want to make sure it is going to be an enjoyable experience and not a fight with sand getting into your eyes. If the speed gets any closer to 20km/h I will advise you to choose another date for your dune session.

Sandy dunes workout

As much as having your photo session is super fun be prepared that climbing and running dunes is like a workout. I promis we are going to have lots of fun if you do not forget to bring a small bottle of water to keep you hydrated at all times.

Wardrobe

When shooting in the sand I always ask you to remove your shoes. It makes your life so much easier when climbing those dunes. It is more comfortable for you and looks more natural on your photographs. In case you have some fancy shoes you would like to show off I will carry them for you and use them just for few shoots.

When it comes to your outfits the most important thing is you wear what you feel comfortable in. I always recommend soft natural colours: white, creamy, beige, grey and pinkie that will correspond well with natural style photography and environment. Choose 1-3 colours with similar tones that will go nicely together. But if you prefer stronger colours and your are not a big fun of whites that’s all right Instead strong patters and big logos are a big no no as we do not want anything to distract the composition.
